Leading the Way in LEED Building
As a design build contractor and member of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), W.L. Hickey Sons has worked closely from inception with a number of contractors to design plumbing systems that achieve LEED status. We have been one of the pioneers in working towards LEEDS certification. Our company holds the distinction of having been the plumbing contractor on the first mixed use multi-family projects to achieve LEED Gold in both San Mateo and Santa Clara counties.
The first project to achieve LEED Gold (2009) was called First and Gish situated in San Jose California. The owner is First Community Housing. The general Contractor is Branagh Inc. located in Oakland California. The project consisted of a four story building of 35 units over one level of subterranean parking and ground floor retail.
The second project to achieve LEED Gold (2009) is called Villa Montgomery situated in Redwood City, California. The owner is First Community Housing. The general Contractor is Branagh Inc. The project consisted of four stories of 60 multi-family units over one level of parking. This project was also voted 2009 AIA/Cote Top Ten Award from The American Institute of Architects. This award is given to projects that demonstrate sustainable architecture and green design solutions. W.L. Hickey Sons continues to work with owners and general contractors to deliver numerous LEEDS projects around the greater San Francisco Bay Area and adjoining counties.
